Out of Sugar
People don't want the truth They want a version of the truth that tastes good That goes down like honey and vinegar Stings just right to make them feel alive Sweet enough to make 'em blush Coat me in sugar Because that's the only version of me you can swallow I'm too sour I'm too spicy I'm too bitter Spin me into candy that tastes just right Spit me out when my flavor's too sweet I'll give you a cavity if you let me, you say Bite-sized pieces only, please Pass the knife Cut me up Build your own doll Piece together your version of me who does better Who is better Who's better at being better How are you? I prefer honest answers That was too honest Please take a step back Be authentic Be real But not too real Because that's too much We want to laugh Tell a joke We want to smile Do something nice Dance for me But make me feel it I want to cry, but only a little Give me your truth And I'll give you mine, you say Like scratching a back But no, not really, just mine Make up your damn mind, people Because truth floats in the sea Coated in salt No, you can't borrow my cup of sugar I just ran out
